Godrej Industries Sees Change as Group Chair Nadir Godrej to Step Down

One of India's largest business houses is set to see a change in leadership. Godrej Industries Ltd shared big news on Monday, April 13, 2026. Its Chairperson, Mr Nadir Godrej, will retire in August 2026. He will step down as Group Chair and become its Chairman Emeritus. The move is part of many planned changes in leadership in the group.

Mr Nadir Godrej is a chemical engineer who earned his degrees from Stanford and Harvard. He served as a director of Godrej Soaps Limited (changed to Godrej Industries in 2001) since 1977. He has helped to grow the group's chemical and agricultural businesses. Mr Godrej owns patents in farm chemicals and surfactants. He has played an active role in research.

In August 2026, he will also leave the boards of other firms of the group. A few of these are Godrej Agrovet, Godrej Properties, and Godrej Consumer Products. He has stepped down from the post of Chairperson and non-executive director of Astec LifeSciences. He handed over the reins of the company on April 13, 2026.

Mr Pirojsha Godrej will be the Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group and Godrej Industries Ltd. He now chairs Godrej Properties, and the change will come into play on August 14, 2026.
From August 14, Mr Burjis Godrej will be the Chairperson of the agricultural business. He now serves as an executive director with Godrej Agrovet. He will also be on the board of Godrej Industries as a non-executive director.
Mr Vishal Sharma will be the new Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences. He is now in charge of Godrej ⁠Chemicals as its CEO. He will step into the new role right away.
